5 Ways to Upgrade Your Glock

Looking for unique, non-permanent ways to upgrade your Glock that require no modifications to the gun?

Here we have them – 5 of them – that can improve the handling, accuracy, and overall performance of your Glock.

Get a Fluted, Threaded Barrel
Possibly the best upgrade you can make to your Glock is to get a barrel that’s both threaded and fluted.

The value behind a fluted barrel is twofold – fluting both lightens the overall build, and improves the heat dissipation characteristics of the platform.

A threaded barrel is even better, as it will give you the flexibility to add muzzle devices like compensators or suppressors, both of which can help corral muzzle flip and recoil.

Invest in a Heavier Guide Rod
The stock Glock guide rod is a polymer guide rod. To be fair, there are some advantages here over steel. Polymer is lighter and since it isn’t ferrous, it won’t rust. The stock guide rod needs exactly zero maintenance, ever.

But the lighter design of a polymer guide rod is as much a hindrance as a help, as a lighter guide rod results in a lighter, more flippant muzzle.

There are tungsten guide rods you can get that will help weigh down the muzzle a little bit, controlling muzzle flip and resulting in a more stable platform.

Get a Glock Magwell
A Glock magwell is a basic upgrade but a good one nonetheless. Basically, a magwell is a part that attaches to the frame at the base of the mag chute and serves like a funnel or flared opening.

The magwell helps guide the mag up and into the gun, which in its turn can help improve handling while shaving seconds off your reload speeds.

This is definitely one of the more affordable upgrades on this list, and a fairly easy one to make, even if you aren’t that familiar with gun parts.

Invest in a Compatible MCK
An MCK, or a micro conversion kit, can be another great upgrade for your Glock.

Basically, an MCK is a chassis that accepts your handgun, converting it into something like a carbine style platform.

In the case of CAA MCKs (Command Arms Accessories Micro Conversion Kits), no modifications, permanent or temporary, are needed to upgrade the gun, and there are MCKs compatible with most Glock pistols (along with many other popular models of handguns).

All you have to do is get an MCK compatible with your model, open the trapdoor on the bottom, insert the Glock and slide it forward, and then lock it in place.

Doing so will automatically improve handling, control recoil, and boost accuracy, in some instances at intermediate ranges beyond 100 yards.

There are few other Glock upgrades that can make such a marked impact on handling and accuracy.

Get Some Quality MCK Accessories
Another great thing about an MCK is that it is so expandable. With one of these platforms, you can treat your handgun more like a sporting rifle than a pistol.

MCK platforms are equipped with multiple rail slots and sections, which are perfect for upgrading with shooting attachments and other accessories.

There are also a wide variety of MCK accessories that are made for them as well, such as slings, glass breakers, lasers, lights, charging handles, thumb rests, brass catchers, and a whole lot of other attachments.

Where Can You Get an MCK, Accessories, and Other Parts?
These are some of the most practical Glock upgrades you can make. Best of all, they’re affordable, easy to make, don’t require you to have the acumen and experience of a gunsmith, and can be made at home. You can find many of them online at MCS Gearup as well. Try out one or a few of them today and see how they impact your shooting. Our bet is it will be for the better.
