You Don’t Need a Dedicated Grow Room: A Grow Tent Will Work Just Fine

So you want to get into indoor growing. That’s great, but now you’re faced with an important consideration: how can you carve out the space in your home to set aside a grow room?

Stop right there. Despite what you’ve read or heard about the necessity of a grow room, you don’t need one. You can do just as well with a grow tent instead, and here’s why.

1.   A grow tent is so much more economical, especially with respect to startup.

Let’s just call a spade a spade. Setting aside an entire room in your home to serve as a grow room can be very expensive, not to mention time-consuming. It is much more affordable to get a grow tent, set it up, and get everything configured and in place. Grow tents might be smaller, but in terms of expense and time, they’ve cornered grow rooms. Speaking of that…

2.   There are some pretty big grow tents.

You might think grow tents will limit you in terms of how much growing space you can use, but while that may be technically true, there are some pretty big options out there, as big as 10’x10’. That’s not only objectively big, but larger than some small rooms.

3.   You’ll be able to monitor and control growing conditions very precisely.

It’s harder to control the conditions in a whole room than it is to control the conditions in a tent, many of which are well insulated and highly reflective to make the most economical use of light.

4.   And surprisingly affordably.

Since grow tents are self-contained and usually smaller than grow rooms, maintaining appropriate conditions within them is typically more affordable than it would be in a grow room.

5.   Grow tents are the modular solution.

Once you dedicate a grow room, you won’t have too much flexibility with where you’re growing and how everything is set up, since your growing infrastructure and equipment will be allocated to a specific room in your home. The opposite is true for grow tents; you can position them where you want and change things as needed, even setting up multiple grow tents in one area to use the same equipment – or taking them down and storing them as needed.

6.   They give you back control over your indoor setup.

Want to set up a grow tent for part of the year and take it down the remainder of the year? Doing so with a tent is a lot easier than doing so with a room – when you’re not using a tent, you can disassemble and store it in a closet or other small space.

Sizing a Laboratory Air Dryer for a Few SCFM

Benchtop setups rarely draw much compressed air.
