4 Reasons eCommerce SEO Companies Are Not Irrelevant Yet

You’ve probably seen or heard it over and over again in the news or on social media: SEO is dead.

Every year, someone says it. Probably they’re just trying to get a headline or be the first.

And after a few months, the loudmouths go silent. SEO isn’t going anywhere, even though the SEO today is very different from what it was ten years ago.

The fact is people are still using search engines to find what they’re looking for, including when they want to buy something.

AI Is Just So Bad

Let’s not beat a dead horse here and spare the feelings of the futurists who are gung-ho in their use of AI.

But we also won’t sugar-coat it either. AI is really bad. The answers that ChatGPT gives to some questions are so bad it’s embarrassing. Worse than embarrassing, sometimes ChatGPT gives factually inaccurate answers. Even dangerous ones.

As a result, people still rely just as much on search engines as they did before these AI engines were even publicly released.

Google Is Getting Twice As Many Searches Per Day As It Did Last Year

According to some sources, Google is getting more than 16 billion searches per day. That is a staggering figure even in the absence of context.

But when you add context, it only gets more impressive. That’s more than 2 searches per day for every person alive – and much of the globe still isn’t even electrified.

But here’s where it gets crazy. In 2024, Google got a little more than 8 billion searches per day. That’s half of what it gets now.

Something’s up. Something’s up that makes people use Google at twice the rate they were just last year.

How could SEO be dead if twice the number of people are using search engines this year than they did last year?

Since It Hinges on Copy, It Still Builds Trust

Think about it. Most marketing channels are not there to build trust or credibility, simply to make money. SEO does make money, but it also positions the domain as an authority in its niche – and that’s worth something so much it’s difficult to quality.

Good copy is what sets apart a properly optimized website from one that isn’t. It is the single most important SEO ranking signal, by far.

Any SEO agency worth its salt will develop an SEO strategy that is built on quality copy.

And the best part is this: the good copy that optimizes a website for SEO also optimizes it for AEO.

In layman’s terms; what makes you show up in Google is also basically the same stuff that makes you show up in AI engines.

SEO Still Provides the Best Return

Lastly, eCommerce SEO experts (and other digital marketing savants) all still know that SEO provides the best return on your investment.

The bottom line here is the proverbial bottom line, and the truth is that eCommerce SEO services, though they are expensive, are likely to return the highest overall profit for an online store, at least in the long run.

An eCommerce website’s speed, performance in the search results, user experience, and brand credibility will all improve with SEO – and that can be equated to monetary return.

Hiring an eCommerce SEO Company

Thinking it might be time for you to invest in SEO for your eCommerce business, and need to target the right relevant keywords? Consider hiring an eCommerce SEO company that will make sure you optimize your website properly for all those billions of daily Google searches. That will take some of the work off your plate.
