5 Benefits of Including Trees in Your Indoor or Outdoor Design

There are more reasons to “save the trees” than to help the environment. As it turns out, trees – and plants in general – can offer a wide range of potential benefits to indoor and outdoor settings when they are introduced as elements of design.

So, with no further ado, dive into some of these potential benefits of introducing trees into courtyards or interior office spaces (which you can easily do with the right tree planters, by the way!).

1. Filtering emissions, releasing oxygen
There is a term for this. It’s called “phytoremediation,” and it refers to the processes by which trees and other plants purify the air.

Trees are highly effective carbon sinks, and they are also effective at removing certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air.

They also absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, and are key links in the carbon cycle.

2. Trees can regulate humidity (indoors)
Dry indoor air conditioners can aggravate the skin and respiratory complications, especially in the winter when air is naturally at its driest.

Adding a tree to your indoor spaces – or an arrangement of houseplants – can help regulate humidity in the air, keeping it close to the comfortable range of 40% to 60%.

This can create more comfortable indoor living conditions, especially in the winter and in dry locations.

3. Trees can regulate the temperature (indoors)
Believe it or not, indoor plants – such as trees – may be able not only to help keep a room cooler but warmer as well.

It all comes down to how plants release moisture into the air and regular humidity. Slightly humid air can feel either warmer or cooler, depending on the circumstances.

In the winter, when the air is naturally dry and cold, plants release moisture, which causes the air to feel warmer and more comfortable.

In the summer, the effect is the opposite. Moisture is released from the plants; as it evaporates, it takes energy with it, cooling off the plant (and the surrounding air).

The effect, in either case, is likely minimal at best, but it may still help improve indoor comfort.

4. Trees may be able to reduce stress and uplift the mood
From time to time, surveys pop up indicating that employees feel less stress, less anxiety, greater job satisfaction, and a higher overall feeling of wellness when around plants.

To know for yourself, you’ll have to give it a try. Get a few tree planters and choose some greenery for your office building!

5. Trees can encourage biodiversity (outdoors)
If you plant trees in planters outside, such as in courtyards or in other outdoor common areas, you can benefit the local ecosystem. Trees encourage biodiversity by providing forage and shelter for insects, birds, frogs, and more.

Trees can encourage birds and other life to grace your outdoor settings, which will improve the “biophilia-friendliness” of the surroundings and will make them more pleasant as well.

The Connection Between Compressed Air and Tool Change Accuracy

Tool change accuracy in CNC machining centers depends on mechanical alignment, spindle condition, and controller logic. Compressed air rarely gets the same attention, even though automatic tool changers depend on it at every cycle. When air delivery is inconsistent, tool change performance is usually the first place problems appear. This is where a 10 HP […]
