Autoflex Golf Shafts: What They Offer

Autoflex golf shafts, all the way from Korea, and boasting KHT, or Korea Hidden Technology, really made an impression when they hit the scene a few years back.

Which is another thing; they’re not new, but they’re still making waves. Partly it’s because of the mystique they carry, partly because of what they promise.

Which is the subject here. If you’re looking for a shaft that can potentially add yards to your swing, requiring no extra effort from you, here’s what you should know.

Autoflex Golf Shafts: More Yards from Your Existing Swing

You won’t need to refine your form. You won’t need to change your clubhead. You just need to upgrade to an Autoflex golf shaft, and it does the rest.

Don’t be put off by the surprisingly lightweight nature of the shaft, or by how whippy they feel. These are things that many golfers have noted, along with the fact that the clubhead seems to lag a bit during the downswing.

But they also all agree that, whippy or not, the clubhead tends to catch up with the shaft at the vital portion of the swing, right before contact with the ball.

Most golfers also noted that they didn’t need to swing any harder or do anything special. Just swinging an Autoflex shaft gave their swing a few extra yards.

If you’re struggling with range but are comfortable with your swing, Autoflex golf shafts, with their Korea Hidden Technology (whatever it is) may be just what you need.

Now, it also helps that they’re fairly lightweight, which means you might be able to swing them faster, too. There are other good golf shafts on the market for that, though.

And, of course, you could always look into a higher launch shaft, or a shaft that produces more spin, too, but doing so might put you at risk of increasing shot dispersion.

There’s more to the value of Autoflex shafts, though. For such a flexible shaft, they’re surprisingly consistent and forgiving, and produce more consistent and accurate golf ball flight, even on mishits and off-center shots.

There are just a few notes here that could impact your choice in golf shafts, Autoflex or otherwise.

One is that you need an appropriate driver club that isn’t too heavy; clubs that are on the heavier side could mess with the performance of the shaft.

The other thing is that you’ll be better off swinging another shaft if you have a very jerky or aggressive tempo. The flexibility of these shafts is best suited to players with smoother, more fluid swing tempos.

Otherwise, assuming you’re swinging a suitable club and have a fluid tempo, you may be able to add yards to your swing with no other extra effort.

Of course, there is only one way to be sure that Autoflex golf shafts will perform well for you. The best thing you can do is work with a fitter.

A fitter will see your swing mechanics, inclusive of speed and tempo and will be able to recommend for or against Autoflex shafts.

A good fitter will also consider what clubs you swing and make specific recommendations from the Autoflex line – or elsewhere, if they deem that Autoflex shafts might not be the best option.
