Is A Changing Table Worth It?

When it comes to taking care of and raising a newborn, diaper changing is a given. However, there’s no reason that you should have to do your diaper changing in a way that’s more stressful and less comfortable.

Changing diapers on your bed or your baby’s crib, for example, can either get messy or strain your back–especially if you’ve been carrying them for hours already, trying to get them to fall asleep. The question is, though, does that really merit the need for a changing table?

The immediate answer would be, “No, not necessarily.” However, every family’s preferences and situation is different, and you may want to seriously consider the benefits of a changing table should you decide to get one. Now, what exactly are those benefits?

1. Comfort & Convenience
Taking care of a baby can take a serious toll on the body for both parents, but most especially for the mothers. Having just gone through childbirth, for example, your body may not be in the best condition to be constantly moving around, rocking back and forth, or bending over.

The best way to ensure that your knees and back don’t suffer even more so is by getting the right tools to give you that much-needed support. A changing table can make a huge difference in that sense and ease you of any added suffering. Additionally, if you’re leaving the baby in grandma’s care for the evening, they may appreciate the fact that you have a changing table available as well.

2. Multipurpose
A number of modern baby furniture have designs that support multiple functions. Convertible cribs that can be transformed into daybeds, toddler beds, and full sized beds are one example. Some brands take this idea even further.

DaVinci changing tables, for example, come in both stand-alone designs as well as designs wherein they’re attached to a convertible crib. If you’re worried about cost, then furniture like these are a great investment, as they’re able to stay with you even as your child grows into their toddler years.

3. Storage & Portability
Most changing tables come with additional shelves or drawers. These shelves can be convenient places for you to store extra diapers, clothes, wipes, powder, and other accessories and toiletries you may need when caring for your baby.

Many changing tables are also portable in the sense that you can roll them along with you should you decide to move to the living room or your bedroom with your baby instead.

The Best Choice For A Changing Table
Deciding to buy a changing table ultimately depends on your needs and your preferences. Many parents do fine without it, and many believe it to be absolutely essential. However, like we’d mentioned earlier, if you’re not entirely convinced that you need a separate changing table then you can always choose to go for those that come with your baby’s crib.

DaVinci Baby has been known to produce high-quality kids furniture for over 25 years, ensuring that you get the best quality and safety for your child.
