Mitsubishi VANQUISH Shafts: The Vanquish Blue

About the VANQUISH Blue

There are lightweight golf shafts, and then there are Mitsubishi VANQUISH shafts like the VANQUISH Blue, which has been inspired by high-end fly fishing rods which are stable and sensitive.

At the heart of the Mitsubishi VANQUISH Blue are high-modulus 40 and 46-ton carbon fiber with super low resin prepreg material that minimizes the amount of epoxy resin used to bind the fibers.

Although epoxy resin is effectively needed to complete construction of golf shafts made of carbon fiber, as little as possible should be used. It is heavy, imparts no action, strength, or stability to the shaft, and isn’t even UV-resistant.

By using as little as possible, golf shaft engineers can keep shaft weight low, which is one of the keys to performance in these golf shafts.

As stated, they are super lightweight. On the heavier end, they weigh up to 58g, but on the lower end, they’re as light as 36 grams in the VANQUISH 3, which is new to the lineup.

Thanks largely to the lighter weight design of these shafts, it’s easier for golfers to swing them harder and faster, increasing clubhead speed, and thereby ball speed and carry distance.

The shaft profile is another thing that benefits golfers with slightly slower swing speeds and tempos. With a medium-stiffness butt section and soft mid and tip sections, these shafts are also made with what Mitsubishi calls “amorphous wire technology” that improves activity.

As a result these shafts are highly flexible and load like a spring, enabling golfers to add extra yards to their swing thanks to improved energy transfer.

Ultimately, these shafts deliver high launch profiles and medium spin profiles. Hitting the ball higher and adding a little extra spin helps shots carry further thanks to improved launch angle and spin-generated lift.

And, as stated, thanks to the stability of these shafts, they don’t overly complicate shot dispersion. For such flexible, responsive, active shafts that feel very lively during the swing, they are surprisingly stable and consistent.

Last but not least, these shafts leverage Mitsubishi’s “consistent feel design” that minimizes, in many cases even eliminates, shaft to shaft variation among different manufactured batches. Put your money into a VANQUISH 5 and when you need to replace it, get the exact same thing and you should get just the same performance as you expected.
