This Might Be the Best in the ESEE Knives Catalog

The ESEE 3, 4, and 4 all have dedicated followings. These are some of the more popular ESEE knives in the industry. But are they the best? Debatable. That honor may just belong to a much smaller cousin, the Izula.

Now, there are some that would tell you the ESEE Izula is too small. These people have probably never gotten their hands on, let alone carried one.

Enter the Izula

The ESEE Izula may be small but it is a heavy hitter and it is the company’s top-selling knife. Just over 6 inches long (6.25”) with a 2.63” blade, and weighing just 2 ounces, the Izula is small, light, and thin.

Most versions are 1095, but there is an S35VN version, and the 1095 versions are available in a wide variety of powder coat colors, including classics like Black, OD and FDE, as well as some novel ones like Venom Green and Blaze Orange.

Sized Just Right

The small size of the Izula might strike you, but this tiny knife can hang with much bigger company. The small grip, even without scales, fills the hand well, and the blade, though small, is more than big enough for most jobs, from preparing kindling, carving and whittling, food prep, and processing fish and harvests.

Interestingly, the small stature of the Izula doesn’t diminish its utility as a camp knife. You might want something bigger, but an Izula is better than nothing, and you’d probably be surprised at the size of the rounds you could baton through with a knife like this.

Rig and Outfit It How to Want

The basic Izula will come with a MOLLE-compatible sheath and will not come with scales, though scales for it are available.

That is another one of the great things about these ESEE knives. They are so versatile. While you can outfit the knife with scales, you can keep the profile slim and improve the grip with a simple paracord wrap – not to mention you’ll always have some emergency paracord close by if you do so.

As for the sheath, it offers a great friction fit, but it’s as versatile as you could hope. It can be rigged for neck carry, dangle carry, tip up or down belt carry, lashed to a pack, carried at the shoulder, cross-drawn, or scout carried – among others.

Additional Insight

Most ESEE Izula models are made from 1095 steel, which is not corrosion resistant. The powder coat protects the blade at all points except the edge and logo – make sure the knife is lightly oiled after use to prevent rust.

A Note on ESEE’s Warranty

Another great thing you will love about ESEE knives, not just the Izula, is the company’s warranty. It is one of the best warranties, period, not just in the knife industry.

ESEE warranty covers the knife against defect or failure, follows the knife for life, and is transferable between owners. You can find an ESEE on the ground, use it, break it, and send it to ESEE. They will replace it.
