Why a Rainbow Butterfly Knife Is Not Just About Aesthetics

If you’re looking for a rainbow butterfly knife, one thing for you to remember is that while you can collect knives like these, they are about much more than just aesthetics.

As it turns out, they actually offer some significant benefits over traditional pocket knife patterns. Here are just a few of the best ones.

1. There’s no “lock” to fail.

Except for slip joints and friction folders, pretty much every other design of folding knife has a locking mechanism. And, while some are stronger than others, the lock is a weak point that can fail.

A rainbow butterfly knife (or any butterfly knife, really) has no locking point, technically. Rather, the blade is connected to the base of each handle half with a bolt or some other fastener that allows it to rotate. When both handle halves are clasped together, or in your hand, the blade really can’t fold on your hand, even if the pivot points break. The blade would probably just snap at that point.

And that is theoretically an instance of design simplicity, not complexity, that some might argue would make a rainbow butterfly knife superior to other types of folding knives, especially those with locks.

2. With practice, a butterfly knife can be used with one hand.

It definitely takes some practice. Actually, in most cases it takes a lot of practice. But if you do commit to getting good with it you will be able to learn to open and close a butterfly knife with one hand, and you can either do it with as much of a flourish as you want, or else do it very quickly. This makes butterfly knives relatively rapid to deploy as well. Not as fast as an automatic knife, but still pretty quickly.

3. There are plenty of tricks to learn.

This short article has nowhere near the length or scope necessary to get into the tricks people have come up with for butterfly knives with any sense of justice, because there are so many of them.

Suffice it to say you could spend months learning them and you will just only scratch the surface. Plus, one of the cool things about butterfly knives is that you can come up with your own tricks with them.

4. Butterfly knives are very fidget friendly.

Another great thing about butterfly knives is that they’re great for people that are fidgety with their hands. If you’re the type of person that has restless hands, a butterfly knife can be an excellent option.

5. A rainbow butterfly knife is a collector’s piece.

Lastly, a rainbow butterfly knife is not just about the design of the knife but it is about the aesthetics. That means you can get one as a collector’s piece.
