Why You’ll Be Glad You Upgraded with a Pistol Conversion Kit

To keep things as simple as possible, a pistol conversion kit is basically a chassis that converts your handgun into something that will handle a lot more like a carbine or a compact PDW.

Pistol conversion kits, like MCKs, or micro conversion kits, also require no modifications to the handguns themselves (more on that in a second).

Regardless, most quality pistol conversion kits will offer a variety of benefits, including but not limited to the following.

Better Recoil Control and Less Muzzle Flip

Because a pistol conversion kit will either have a stock or give you the flexibility to add one, it can be fired from the shoulder (or at least braced). As a result, micro conversion kits and other conversion kits can significantly reduce felt recoil.

This is a big bonus for smaller-framed and lighter shooters as it reduces recoil fatigue.

Another thing is that pistol conversion kits also slash muzzle flip considerably, which keeps the sights on target and enables faster, more confident and more accurate follow up shots.

The Platform Will Handle More Readily

Handguns basically trade off everything in the hope of providing better concealability, and one of the aspects on which they make big compromises is in handling.

Handguns don’t handle well; they’re uncomfortable, produce a lot of recoil, and are small, which means there isn’t a lot of surface area to wrangle with.

This is not the case with a pistol conversion kit, which will offer you much more surface area to control, making them a lot more ergonomic, improving your confidence in handling them.

You’ll Shoot More Accurately Even at Intermediate Ranges

Because pistol conversion kits can control recoil effectively, and because they handle so much more facilitatively, the overwhelming majority of shooters find that they can shoot more accurately with them, even at extended ranges.

Even out to 100 yards and farther, a pistol conversion kit should improve your ability to connect with a target.

Another bonus is that you can mount an optic to one, but even if you don’t there will be a longer rail over the slide, so you can mount new iron sights and increase the sight radius, making the platform more forgiving in terms of accuracy.

Expandability and Increased Attachment Points

There are many accessories that are expressly compatible with some pistol conversion kits like CAA MCKs, but even if this were not the case, many pistol conversion kits are well-endowed with a variety of attachment points, plus rail adapters so you can configure them how you like.

This is a significant improvement over most handguns, which have few to no attachment points. Some have a small section of rail under the barrel but by and large most handguns are devoid of rails and other attachment points.

Some Require No Modifications to the Handgun

If you choose wisely, you can find pistol conversion kits that require no modifications, temporary or otherwise, to the handgun.

Options like CAA MCKs don’t require you to change anything about the handgun at all. You just open the door in the bottom, slide the handgun in, secure it in place, close the door, zero it, and get shooting.

Property owners often assume accessible signage can wait because customers rarely mention it directly, but missing ADA-compliant signs quickly lead to legal costs, operational headaches, frustrated visitors, and expensive retrofits […]
